A new digital transformation curriculum rolled out in Lusaka equips agricultural cooperatives with mobile financing and direct market access tools.

Key Highlights

  • Direct-to-buyer digital marketplace connecting farming cooperatives to regional markets
  • Mobile Sharia-compliant micro-financing for agricultural inputs
  • Traceable ethical sourcing certification integrated on mobile devices

ICTI Zambia has launched a digital trade initiative in Lusaka designed to connect rural agricultural cooperatives directly with institutional buyers, wholesale aggregators, and fintech payment rails.

The program deploys mobile-accessible ledger tools that allow farming collectives to transparently record harvest yields, verify ethical sourcing criteria, and receive instant cross-border payments.

By removing intermediary markups and improving price transparency, the digital platform directly elevates farmer incomes and strengthens food security across neighboring Southern African trade channels.

Over 200 cooperative leaders completed the initial orientation session and will begin onboarding localized producer groups across the central agricultural belts.

“Harnessing digital financial tools enables smallholder producers to participate fully in regional value chains with complete financial transparency.”
